Koi Filtration System Layout

Drum → J-mats → Moving Bed → Ceramic Media → Oyster Shell → UV Light → Baki Shower → Pond

Simple explanation:

  • Drum: removes large waste, fish waste, and leftover food

  • J-mats: trap fine debris

  • Moving Bed: main biological filtration, helps process ammonia and nitrite

  • Ceramic Media: adds more surface area for beneficial bacteria

  • Oyster Shell: helps maintain KH and stabilize pH

  • UV Light: helps reduce green water and floating algae

  • Baki Shower: increases oxygen, reduces DOC, and improves overall water quality

Easy way to understand it:Mechanical filtration first, fine filtration next, then biological filtration, water stabilization, algae control, and finally oxygen enrichment before the water returns to the pond.
